History
British Pacific Properties Ltd., backed by the Guinness family, acquired roughly 4,700 acres in 1931; in exchange for development rights it helped fund the Lions Gate Bridge, which opened in 1938, and built the Capilano Golf and Country Club in 1937, with the first phase laid out by the Olmsted Brothers.
