Living in Burke Mountain

Burke Mountain is Coquitlam's newest master-planned community, a large and still-building residential district on the forested southeast slope of Burke Mountain in the city's northeast. Most homes here date from after 2010.

Location & boundaries

It occupies the upland northeast corner of Coquitlam on the lower slopes of Burke Mountain, with Pinecone Burke Provincial Park rising to the north. The city plans it in several sub-neighbourhoods, including Lower and Upper Hyde Creek, Partington Creek and Smiling Creek.

History

The area was developed as a large planned community (led by Wesbild among others) from the 2000s onward, converting former hillside forest and acreage into new subdivisions.

Lifestyle

It is a newer-build, family-oriented suburb of quiet residential streets close to trails and green space, still adding shops and civic amenities as it grows.

Parks & recreation
