Living in Rutland

Rutland is Kelowna's largest and one of its most populous neighbourhoods, on the northeast side of the city. Once an independent town, it retains its own commercial centre and has been the focus of ongoing revitalization.

Location & boundaries

On the northeast edge of the city's core, adjoining Dilworth, Black Mountain and Southeast Kelowna, with Highway 33 running through it.

History

Named after early settler John Rutland, who pioneered wheat farming and the area's first commercial orchards; the community was a town until it amalgamated with Kelowna in 1973.
