Stave Falls is a rural community in northwest Mission built around Stave Lake and the historic Stave Falls Dam and Powerhouse. It combines rural-residential living with lake and reservoir recreation.
Location & boundaries
It sits north of Mission City along the Dewdney Trunk Road, between Stave Lake and Hayward Lake, near the Maple Ridge boundary.
History
The Stave Falls Dam and Powerhouse was built in phases between 1909 and 1925; after a 1927 diversion from Alouette Lake it became the first automated powerhouse in the Commonwealth, and the original 1912 powerhouse reopened as a BC Hydro visitor centre in 2002.
