Neighbourhood guide

Living in Brentwood

Brentwood is a fast-densifying town centre in North Burnaby built around the intersection of Willingdon Avenue and Lougheed Highway. Once centred on an enclosed suburban mall, it has been transforming into a cluster of residential highrises anchored by the redeveloped shopping complex now called The Amazing Brentwood.

Location & boundaries

It sits in North Burnaby roughly between Willingdon Avenue to the west and Springer Avenue to the east. Hastings Street separates it from Capitol Hill to the north, while Lougheed Highway marks the edge between the residential area and the commercial and industrial land to the south.

History

The neighbourhood grew up around the Brentwood shopping centre and the Lougheed Highway corridor. In recent years the original enclosed mall has been progressively rebuilt into a high-rise, mixed-use community, and the SkyTrain station received a major expansion completed in 2025.

Housing & property types

Housing includes single-family homes on the interior grid alongside a rapidly growing collection of condominium and rental towers, with low- and high-rise rental buildings concentrated toward the southeast near Springer Avenue.

Shopping & dining

The Amazing Brentwood, formerly Brentwood Town Centre, is the retail focus near the southwest corner of the neighbourhood, combining shops, restaurants and residential towers.

Parks & recreation

Brentwood Park sits centrally within the neighbourhood's horseshoe-shaped grid, and Beecher Park to the west has a stream that joins Still Creek and eventually drains toward Burnaby Lake.

Getting around

Brentwood Town Centre Station on the Millennium Line serves the area and is one of the line's busiest stops; Gilmore Station is also nearby, and Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue are the main road routes.

Who it may suit

May suit buyers wanting transit-oriented condo living close to shopping and rapid transit.
