Neighbourhood guide

Living in Murrayville

Murrayville is one of Langley's oldest and most historically rich communities, centred on the Five Corners heritage node with a vintage main-street character. It blends heritage buildings with established residential streets.

Location & boundaries

It sits in the central Township around the intersection of 216 Street, 48 Avenue and Old Yale Road, southeast of the City of Langley.

History

Settled by the Paul Murray family in the 1870s, it was first called Murray's Corners and renamed by the post office in 1911. It served as the region's political centre until the municipal hall moved to the City of Langley in 1955.

Lifestyle

The neighbourhood is established and family-oriented, with a walkable heritage core.

Housing & property types

Housing mixes older character homes with newer single-family houses, townhomes and some low-rise buildings.

Shopping & dining

The Five Corners heritage buildings house cafes and shops, and the Murrayville Community Hall (opened 1928) anchors the historic node.
