Living in Haney

Haney is the downtown and Town Centre of Maple Ridge, historically known as Central Haney. It is the walkable commercial and civic core of the city.

Location & boundaries

It occupies central Maple Ridge on the bench above the Fraser River, around the Lougheed Highway, Dewdney Trunk Road and 224th Street.

History

The community is named for Thomas Haney, who homesteaded in 1876 and laid out Port Haney in 1882; after the Lougheed Highway was completed in 1931, the commercial centre moved uphill from the river to become Central Haney and, later, the Town Centre.
