Matsqui is a historic farming community on the Matsqui Prairie floodplain along the Fraser River in the north of the city. It centres on the small heritage village of Matsqui and its surrounding dyked farmland.

It lies in north Abbotsford on Matsqui Prairie, between the Fraser River and the central city, north of Clearbrook.
History
The District of Matsqui was incorporated in 1892 and amalgamated with Abbotsford in 1995. The prairie was dyked and converted to farmland in the early 1900s and was inundated in the great Fraser River floods of 1894 and 1948; early settlers included a notable Scandinavian community.
