Neighbourhood guide

Living in Deep Cove

Deep Cove is a small seaside village at the eastern edge of North Vancouver, on the shore of Indian Arm beneath Mount Seymour, known for its compact waterfront core, paddling and hiking.

Location & boundaries

It occupies the easternmost reach of the District of North Vancouver, where Indian Arm meets the base of Mount Seymour, east of the Seymour and Blueridge areas.

History

Indian Arm is a glacier-carved fjord long within the traditional territory of the Tsleil-Waututh; European navigators charted the inlet in 1792, and Deep Cove later grew from a summer-cottage retreat into a residential village.

Lifestyle

The village has a relaxed, outdoorsy feel and is popular with kayakers, paddleboarders and hikers as well as day visitors.

Housing & property types

The housing mix ranges from detached homes and some waterfront properties to smaller village dwellings.

Shopping & dining

A compact village centre along Gallant and Panorama holds cafes, shops and restaurants.

Parks & recreation

Panorama Park offers waterfront lawns, a picnic shelter and playground and serves as the trailhead for the popular Quarry Rock hike on the Baden-Powell Trail; Indian Arm is a hub for kayaking and paddleboarding.

Schools

Served by the North Vancouver School District (SD44), with Cove Cliff and Sherwood Park elementary schools and Seycove Secondary.

Getting around

Bus service via Deep Cove Road and Mount Seymour Parkway connects to Phibbs Exchange; road access is via Mount Seymour Parkway.

Attractions & landmarks

The Quarry Rock lookout, Panorama Park and the Indian Arm waterfront are the signature draws.

Who it may suit

May suit those wanting a waterfront village setting with strong outdoor recreation.
