Neighbourhood guide

Living in Grand Boulevard

Grand Boulevard is a heritage residential neighbourhood built around a long central park corridor east of the Lonsdale area in North Vancouver.

Location & boundaries

It sits east of Lonsdale Avenue, centred on the Grand Boulevard park that runs between roughly Keith Road and 19th Street.

History

Laid out in 1906 by the North Vancouver Land and Improvement Company, the wide central boulevard was planned partly as a firebreak, informed by the 1906 San Francisco fire, and planted in a European garden style; its early homes were largely Arts and Crafts, and the park is on the City's Heritage Register.

Lifestyle

The neighbourhood has a quiet, established character centred on its parkland spine.

Housing & property types

Character and heritage detached homes on large, wide lots face the central park, alongside later infill housing.

Parks & recreation

Grand Boulevard Park is a roughly 1.6-kilometre central greenway with paved walking and bike paths, playing areas and heritage-style lighting.

Schools

Served by the North Vancouver School District (SD44), with Ridgeway Elementary and the adjacent Sutherland Secondary serving the area.

Getting around

Bus routes on the nearby Lonsdale and Keith corridors connect to Lonsdale Quay and the SeaBus.

Who it may suit

May suit buyers wanting heritage character homes facing parkland.
