History

The Lonsdale name traces to landowner Arthur Pemberton Heywood-Lonsdale; the Wallace Shipyards, later Burrard Dry Dock and Versatile Pacific, opened at the foot of Lonsdale in 1906 and built vessels through the war years. The SeaBus began in 1977, the Lonsdale Quay Market opened in 1986, and the redeveloped Shipyards District opened in 2018.
