Cloverdale is Surrey's historic heart and its original town centre, centred on the Five Corners intersection. It blends a heritage main street with newer residential growth.

Location & boundaries

In east-central Surrey; the wider Cloverdale town centre also takes in Clayton Heights to the north.

History

The area began as a farming community in the Clover Valley (also called Serpentine Flats) and was established near Five Corners in 1879 as Surrey's first town centre. It became a railway hub when the New Westminster Southern Railway arrived in 1891 and was an incorporated village from 1945.

Schools

Served by School District 36 (Surrey Schools), including Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary and École Salish Secondary.

Getting around

The Fraser Highway corridor runs nearby, along which the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension is under construction.

Attractions & landmarks

The Cloverdale Fairgrounds host the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair, held each Victoria Day weekend and billed as one of Canada's largest rodeos.
