Neighbourhood guide

Living in Fleetwood

Fleetwood is an established residential town centre in east-central Surrey strung along the Fraser Highway. It is being reshaped by the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain and the City's Fleetwood Plan, which directs future growth around the coming stations.

Location & boundaries

Bounded roughly by 76 Avenue in the south, 96 Avenue in the north, 144 Street in the west and 172 Street in the east, centred on the Fraser Highway.

History

Early settlers James and Edith Francis homesteaded near present-day 160 Street and Fraser Highway in 1907; the Fleetwood Community Hall and Fleetwood Arms sit at 160 Street and 84 Avenue.

Housing & property types

Predominantly detached homes, with new higher-density development planned around the future SkyTrain stations under the Fleetwood Plan.

Schools

Served by School District 36 (Surrey Schools), including Fleetwood Park Secondary (160 Street and 80 Avenue) and William Watson Elementary (opened 1958).

Getting around

The Fraser Highway is the spine of the area; the elevated Fleetwood SkyTrain station is under construction at Fraser Highway and 160 Street as part of the Surrey-Langley Expo Line extension, with opening expected around 2029.

Who it may suit

May suit families wanting detached homes near future rapid transit.
