Living in Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is a historic seaside village in South Surrey on the Semiahmoo Peninsula, known for its sandy beach, pier and compact village feel.

Location & boundaries

On Boundary Bay at the mouth of the Nicomekl River near Mud Bay, in the northwest corner of South Surrey, just north of Ocean Park.

History

The area became accessible when the Great Northern Railway reached it around 1909, and the first waterfront lots were sold in 1911. It was originally known as Blackie's Spit, after Walter Blackie.

Parks & recreation

Blackie Spit Park (created by the City in 1996, at 3136 McBride Avenue) offers a sandy beach, a pier, an off-leash dog area, roughly 5 km of walking trails, tennis courts, a sailing club and notable birdwatching.

Reached via Crescent Road and served by TransLink bus routes.
