Living in Riley Park

Riley Park, also called Riley Park–Little Mountain, is a residential east-side neighbourhood best known for Queen Elizabeth Park and the independent shops of Main Street.

Location & boundaries

It is bounded by East and West 16th Avenue to the north, 41st Avenue to the south, Cambie Street to the west and Fraser Street to the east. Mount Pleasant lies to the north and Oakridge to the south.

History

The neighbourhood grew around Little Mountain, the highest point in the city, where a former basalt quarry was transformed into Queen Elizabeth Park in the mid-20th century.

Character homes and single-family houses predominate on the side streets, with apartments and mixed-use buildings along Main and Cambie streets.

Shopping & dining

Main Street is the primary commercial thoroughfare, known for independent boutiques, antique and design shops, cafés and restaurants, with additional shops along Cambie Street.
