Neighbourhood guide

Living in River District

River District is a newer master-planned waterfront community on the north bank of the Fraser River in Vancouver's far southeast, developed on former industrial land.

Location & boundaries

It lies along the Fraser River in the far southeast of the city, roughly between Kerr Street and Boundary Road south of Marine Way, within the larger Killarney area.

History

The site, part of the former East Fraser Lands, was an industrial and sawmill district that is being redeveloped by Wesgroup into a large master-planned community of around 130 acres.

Housing & property types

Housing is predominantly new mid- and high-rise condominiums and townhomes, with retail at street level around a planned town centre.

Shopping & dining

A growing town centre provides a grocery store, retail shops, restaurants and services aimed at day-to-day local needs.

Parks & recreation

A riverfront path of roughly 1.5 kilometres runs along the Fraser, with parks, green space and picnic areas, and a golf course lies nearby.

Getting around

There is no SkyTrain in the immediate area, which is served by buses along Marine Way and Kerr Street, with road connections via Marine Way and the nearby Knight Street Bridge.

Community facilities

A community centre serves residents and hosts year-round family events.

Who it may suit

May suit buyers wanting new waterfront condominiums in a quiet, planned community near the river.
