South Granville is an upscale shopping and residential district along Granville Street on Vancouver's west side, known as 'Gallery Row' for its concentration of art galleries alongside boutiques and restaurants.

Location & boundaries

Part of the Fairview area, it stretches along Granville Street from around West 7th Avenue near the Granville Bridge south to West 16th Avenue. Shaughnessy lies to the south and Kitsilano to the west across Burrard Street.

History

The commercial strip has been a shopping destination since the early 1900s, growing along one of the city's main north-south arteries.

The surrounding residential streets are fairly affluent, and the district is walkable and pedestrian-oriented.
