Evanston is a newer residential community on Calgary's far northwest edge, in the Symons Valley area.

Location & boundaries

It sits in northwest Calgary near Kincora (across Shaganappi Trail), Sage Hill and Sarcee Trail to the west, 144th Avenue NW to the north and 14th Street NW to the east, with Panorama Hills and Hidden Valley across Stoney Trail to the south.

History

It was established in the early 2000s and built out largely over the following two decades.

Lifestyle

It is a family-oriented suburb with parks, ponds and pathways, and is part of the Evanston Creekside Community Association.

Housing is a mix of single-family detached homes, townhomes and some apartments and condominiums.

Shopping & dining

The nearby Sage Hill Crossing and Creekside shopping areas offer grocery, big-box retail, a cinema and restaurants.
