Inglewood is Calgary's oldest neighbourhood, a historic community centred on a lively 9th Avenue SE main street east of downtown.

Location & boundaries

It sits in central Calgary between the Bow and Elbow rivers, east of downtown and the Elbow River, with Ramsay to the south and the Bow River separating it from Bridgeland to the north.

History

Established in 1875 following the construction of Fort Calgary, it was originally called East Calgary or Brewery Flats and was renamed Inglewood in 1911 after a nearby homestead.

Lifestyle

It is a walkable, eclectic community known for independent shops, live music and a strong arts scene.
