West Hillhurst is an established inner-city community in northwest Calgary along the Bow River, close to Kensington and downtown. It has a distinctive post-war character and a walkable feel.

Location & boundaries

It sits in the inner northwest, bisected by Crowchild Trail, bounded by 18th Street NW to the east, the Bow River to the south and 28th Street NW to the west, next to Hillhurst, Parkdale and Briar Hill.

History

The area was annexed to Calgary in 1907, but much of its housing was built from 1945 as 'Victory Homes' for returning Second World War servicemen.
