Walden is a newer community in the deep south of southeast Calgary, planned around extensive parkland and named after Henry David Thoreau's Walden. It is a young, family-oriented suburb.
Location & boundaries
It sits in the southeast, south of 194th Avenue SE and Chaparral, west of the Bow River valley, north of Legacy and east of Macleod Trail.
History
The community was approved by City Council in 2007 and developed by Genstar across roughly 620 acres, organized into 'villages' around a large park system, with the name referencing Thoreau's Walden.
